9/16 Virtual -Termite feeding and symbiotic protozoa

Termites are very intresting litte insects. Termites and protozoa make a cycle that come together so it creates a symbotic relationship between them. Termite guts are shelter to protozoa and there food is the cellulose, which is the wood that the termites had already eaten. Cellulose is digested and produce and let go acetate. Acetate is produced by the protozoa. The termites use this acetate as thier energy source to carry out thier daily bodily functions.

Procedure:
  1. Take two of the forceps and take one to his head and one to the end of his abdomen.
  2. Gently pull them apart.
  3. Then take the guts and place them on a slide.
  4. Place the slide under the microscope.
  5. Write and draw the descriptions of your termite guts.

When we did this lab it looked like a lot of fun because we were actually lookin into more of the insects. Yet when my group pulled the guts out we didnt do it really well, so then we did it again and placed it under the slide but couldnt really see anything. So for me this lab was not how I wanted it to turn out, it wasn't as intresting because when i tried to help i got shut down because they didnt need my help, so it wasnt really that fun.
